The 2020 Great Meadow Polo Normal - Tailgate Polo
In a year marred with cancelled events and disappointments, Great Meadow was pleased to bring a sense of normalcy to the summer with Tailgate Polo on the Sheila C. Johnson Polo Field. Each Saturday evening featured three fast paced polo matches safely enjoyed from reserved spaces.
Designed with the safety of attendees, players and staff as a top priority, Tailgate Polo featured individual, physically distanced tailgate spaces placed down the length of each side of the polo field for season box and tailgate holders as well as single night rentals. Later additions included a general admission seating area with available car passes released weekly.
“We certainly missed traditional Twilight Polo in the arena for most of the summer, but we are so glad that we have been able to bring the community together - from a safe distance of course,” said Great Meadow Executive Director Carrie Hull. “We so appreciate the support and flexibility of our polo fans as we navigate these unprecedented times and new event format.”

With fall weather starting, Tailgate Polo ended in early September. The popularity of these grass matches has led to Great Meadow considering adding more grass polo to its permanent schedule. Be sure to follow along all of Great Meadow’s social media for updates and a 2021 schedule.
