The Great Meadow Foundation today issued a request for proposals (RFP) for managing the sport of polo at the Great Meadow Foundation property located at 5089 Old Tavern Road, The Plains, Virginia, 20198.
Available by request only, the RFP details the existing assets, scope of work, timeline and other areas relevant to those submitting proposals for consideration. Applicants are required to describe their proposed management of arena polo in the Greenhill Stadium and/or grass polo on the Sheila C. Johnson Polo Field. The RFP is part of a venue-wide master plan developed to make Great Meadow a world-class equestrian and outdoor events center. Proposals are due by November 30th, 2020. You must indicate interest prior to submission date to Executive Director, Carrie Hull at firstname.lastname@example.org in order to receive the RFP.
“Polo is an integral part of Great Meadow’s history and annual calendar. This RFP will ensure we are bringing the best possible polo to Great Meadow, both on the grass and in the area,” said Carrie Hull, Executive Director of the Great Meadow Foundation. “The community will continue to enjoy the sport just as they have for over 25 years now.
“The Board of Trustees and a Selection Committee will review each proposal to ensure the winning bid(s) honors the legacy that makes events at Great Meadow so special while upholding our mission to preserve open space from equestrian sport and community use.”
Hull added, “We anticipate more opportunities for spectator polo here at Great Meadow both in the arena and on the field! Saturday evening arena polo is a time honored tradition at Great Meadow and will continue for many years in the future!” Plans for the 2021 season will be developed in the coming months.
In addition to polo programming, the Great Meadow Foundation is home to the Virginia and International Gold Cup Races, the Great Meadow International, Virginia Scottish Games and other community and equestrian events.
